Say Goodbye to Web Server Bottlenecks with Jade Direct REST and SOAP

In modern cloud architectures, IIS and Apache Web Server are common bottlenecks for scaling and load-balancing requests. With our upcoming Direct REST and Direct SOAP features, you will no longer need to install or configure a web server to manage HTTP/HTTPS traffic between a Jade application and external HTTP-compliant applications (such as REST clients, web browsers, reverse proxies, web servers, or TLS termination servers). However, users may still choose to use these as reverse proxies if needed.

This new functionality also introduces support for the legacy HTTP/1.1 communication protocol in Jade REST and SOAP applications. As a result, Jade Direct REST and SOAP applications can communicate directly with other HTTP-compliant applications without relying on IIS or Apache.

These features, set to launch with our next major release, Jade 2025, arriving mid-year, provide greater flexibility in deploying Jade REST and SOAP applications while reducing the system requirements for their development.

Stay tuned for more details as we get closer to the release date!

Welcome Michelle Hsieh!

Join us in welcoming Michele to the Jade Engineering Team!

Michelle was a pharmacist for four years, including during some of the COVID lockdowns. Throughout her time as a pharmacist, Michelle noticed how frequently I.T. systems were changed and how many of them weren’t fit for purpose. The challenges of the pandemic also highlighted the unsustainability of our current methods of providing healthcare. It became clear to her that we needed to optimise and improve the way we use, develop, and maintain systems—particularly in I.T.

Michelle realised she wanted to have a meaningful impact on a larger scale by providing small system optimisations on a grander level. This led her study software engineering with a focus on systems development and maintenance at the University of Canterbury.

We believe Michelle’s blend of healthcare experience and software engineering expertise positions her perfectly to contribute to improving systems that make a difference in people’s lives.
