What a quarter it’s been! Between catching up with so many of you at Jade Velocity 2025, preparing for our next big release, and rolling out new ways to learn and build with Jade, there’s plenty to share.
Here’s a quick round-up of what’s been happening and what’s on the horizon.
Happy Developing! Jade Platform Engineering
Jade Velocity 2025 - Thank you!
Jade Velocity was all about connection, conversation, and celebrating the amazing things being built with Jade. Over the course of the day, we heard inspiring keynotes, dove into technical deep-dives, had a demo with a hidden surprise, and shared stories that reminded us why this community is so special.
What stood out most wasn’t just the sessions themselves, but the energy in the room. It was clear that Jade is more than a platform; it’s a community that thrives on collaboration and curiosity.
We were also delighted to have the Prime Minister stop by, adding an extra sense of occasion and recognition to the day. It was a reminder that the work this community does resonates far beyond our own network.
If you missed the event or want to relive your favourite moments, check out our videos on the Jade Velocity 2026 site (now open for pre-registration)
We’d love to hear what you thought about Jade Velocity. If you haven’t already, please take a couple of minutes to fill in the post-event survey. Your feedback helps us shape future events so they’re even more valuable for you.
At Jade Velocity 2025 we announced the launch of our new online course, and it’s now live. The course offers structured, self-paced learning designed to help you build and grow your Jade skills.
This marks an exciting step in strengthening the Jade community. We’ll continue to expand the course library and build certifications that support your professional growth and the wider Jade ecosystem.
In this JPL Insights session, Jade System Software Engineer Michelle Hsieh explores the Synchronised Database Service (SDS) in the Jade Platform.
Watch to learn how SDS can help keep your systems resilient, minimise disruption, and provide the confidence of a reliable backup when it matters most.
The next big step for the Jade Platform is almost here. In the last week of October, we’ll release Jade 2025, packed with features to make development faster, smoother, and more powerful.
Orb – A Modern Web Framework, Natively in Jade
One of the standout additions in Jade 2025 is Orb, our new web framework built directly into the platform. Orb brings everything you’d expect from a world-class framework — HTML templating, routing, live updates, and secure session handling — all delivered seamlessly within Jade.
At JV25, we revealed Orb in action: the Summit event app used on the day was built entirely with Orb. Carlin even rebuilt the app live on stage, showing just how quickly Orb can take ideas from concept to working software. To help you explore its potential, we’ll also be releasing the full source code for the event app alongside the release.
AskJ – Your AI Developer Assistant
Jade 2025 also introduces AskJ, our AI-powered assistant designed to make coding in Jade more intuitive. AskJ will help you find answers faster, understand the “why” behind Jade concepts, and learn as you build. Launching alongside Jade 2025, AskJ is here to support you at every stage of your development journey.
More Highlights in Jade 2025
Beyond Orb and AskJ, this release includes a range of improvements:
New code navigation browsers in the IDE for faster movement through your projects
A new switch statement for cleaner, more understandable code
Direct REST for modern API integration, with simpler development and in-band binary content delivery
Expanded .NET integration, with support for both .NET and .NET Framework
Event Stream Producer enhancements, with performance boosts and built-in health checks
