Happy Developing! Jade Platform Engineering
Save the Date: Jade Velocity 2025
Jade Velocity 2025 is happening on 29 August at Te Pae, Christchurch.
As the Jade Platform continues to evolve, so does the way we connect with our community. This winter, we’re introducing Jade Velocity 2025 — a new kind of event that builds on the spirit of JUG, but reaches wider.
Expect a full day of ideas, insights, and connection — from developers and partners to tech leaders and platform owners. You’ll hear about the latest platform enhancements, real-world use cases, and ways people are future-proofing their Jade systems in practice.
If you haven’t already, join the waitlist to secure your spot — registration is free, but places are limited.
One of the most rewarding things about working with Jade is seeing how our technology powers systems that matter. The Learning Needs Library, based in Christchurch, is one such system.
For nearly 25 years, this small charity has supported children with sensory, physical, cognitive, language, and learning challenges — and it’s done so with the help of a custom-built Jade Platform system. Originally created by University of Canterbury Professor Bevan Clarke and kindly maintained for over a decade by a former Jade employee, the system is still the backbone of their operations.
This year, the Jade Platform Engineering team stepped in to support the Library’s tech refresh, upgrading from Jade 7.1 to the latest version and helping to roll out new hardware. It’s a small system, but a powerful example of Jade’s adaptability, longevity, and purpose-built design.
If you’re inspired by the Library’s mission, visit learningneedslibrary.co.nz — and if you’re able, consider supporting them with a donation.

Free Online Jade Courses
Coming Soon
We’re putting the finishing touches on the new Jade Developer Academy, which will offer free, self-paced Jade Platform learning. Structured into bite-sized modules, the courses are designed to replace our current week-long, in-person course.
We’re currently sharing early access with a small group to gather feedback before making the courses widely available. If you're attending JV25, you’ll get an in-depth look as we’ll be demonstrating the Academy at the event.
Stay tuned — we’ll let you know as soon as the courses are live on the Developer Centre.
